HCG still in the Paris Agreement

HCG unanimously voted to join a national movement and sign the ‘We Are Still In’ Paris Agreement open letter to the international community. HCG joins community and civic leaders, governmental officials, college and university leaders, and investors to reduce the causes of climate change. HCG and the City of Northampton are the only local communities to sign the letter.

Helping businesses and municipalities use clean energy

HCG is already committed to reducing carbon emissions through its energy programs – Hampshire Power, Hampshire Solar, and SREC sales. Hampshire Power offers green energy options and currently supplies the City of Lowell, MA, with 100% renewable energy. Hampshire Solar is partnering with local farmers to expand its net-metering program to include biomass. Hampshire Solar currently serves hundreds of local businesses with local solar, virtual net metering credits, and will soon add wind and low impact hydro as well. The SREC program serves over 1,200 local solar owners and helps to support the development of new, local solar facilities.

You can help build a sustainable and healthy American economy

The vote was based on the core HCG belief that we all must work as a community to give future generations an environment and economy that are sustainable and healthy.

Since the “We Are Still In” statement was originally released on June 5, the signatories have nearly doubled to include 2,047 signatories today. The growth of this movement shows just how committed the American economy is to a clean energy future and ambitious action to address climate change.

HCG encourages other area communities and companies to follow our lead and commit to transition to a clean energy economy that will benefit our security, prosperity, and health.
